Self Acceptance Myth

Yes! You can accept the amazing human you are in this moment AND still (want to) make changes.

It’s being able to say:
“I embrace the current version of myself, imperfections & all. I’m whole & worthy as I am AND I’m ready to see what I’m capable of.”

Self acceptance is kind of a big deal when it comes to not treating yourself like an asshole, whether you want change or not.

Acceptance leads you into more of what’s possible.

You become kinder, more compassionate towards yourself. (Less of that shitty self talk…)

You stop looking so hard for external validation because you know how awesome you are.

Your confidence goes up! (and they stay there…HA, IYKYK.)

And the journey towards achieving your goals becomes a little lighter, more freeing, less rushed & way more fun.

Weight Between Your Ears

Y’all keep trying to change the weight on your body with a new diet or some other fad but you haven’t even addressed the weight between your ears.

You’re going to keep creating the same results if you keep thinking the same damn thing.

If you want different results - you have to look at what’s going on inside.

“The weight between my ears?”

  • Basically stories that hold you down & keep you in a cycle.

When it comes to your body, it can be:

  • Rules or messaging from diet culture & our society.

  • Emotional eating and/or mindless eating.

  • Subpar relationship with your body.$hitty stories you have about your body.

  • Thoughts you may have about your ability to change your habits or be someone who ________.
    (insert your story here).

  • All or nothing thinking.

If you are stuck in ANY area of your life (with your bod, jobs, relationships) & it feels like you’re living in ground hog day, that’s where I come in - let’s chat.

Fajita Bowls + Diet Drama

Ok, it has been a minute since I shared a recipe or meal that I loved but I had an ah-ha moment this evening - part of what I do as an Empowerment Coach for women is help you learn to enjoy food again without diet drama - so why not start to share recipes from time to time.

Clearly, if you have ever been to my blog, you know a huge part of my life USED to be coming up with simple recipes. (If you want to jump to recipe, scroll down.)

I loved to cook and bake but somewhere along the way, I lost that. I stopped enjoying it because it just became something I tied to my weight. If the food I ate wasn’t making the scale go down fast enough, I would suddenly become tired of said food or think I needed to restrict more. It was an unhealthy thought process and you can see how the cycle worked. It’s almost the same way when people tie their workouts to their weight and stop when the scale doesn’t do what they want. The same can happen with cooking or baking.

OR you just get tired of trying to figure out container counts, macros and other BS ways to restrict your food intake unless it was laid out for you so you would go for the same recipes OVER and OVER, eventually getting sick of them.

The hardest steps for rebuilding a relationship with food can be…

  • knowing you don’t have to measure, count calories or macros in order to know when to stop.

  • not restricting the amount of toppings you eat with a meal because someone told you to limit your healthy fat (i.e. “blue container”) intake.

  • finding recipes you want to cook & eat because so many years of dieting can steal the joy of both from you.

You can rebuild your relationship with yourself, relearn to trust your own intuition. Get to know your body without someone else’s rules telling you what to do / not do.

When you do the work to ditch diet drama and do what sounds good & feels right for you when it comes to food there will still be days that are harder than others to turn down the noise on what diet culture has ingrained in your brain but you will have the tools in your back pocket to turn UP the volume on YOU because when it comes down to your bod, you really do know what’s best.

RECIPE:

What You Need:
-Marinated Steak - here is the recipe I used, it was fab. I only marinated it for an hour due to time.
-Fajita Veggie Mix - I buy precut at the store.
-Poblano Pepper - wanted a little extra heat.
-Trader Joe’s Spanish Rice

Toppings (Optional)
Guac
Sour Cream
Salsa
Cheese
Tortilla Chips (I love a good crunch)

Obvi I am not here to give you counts or measurements on how much to eat - you do you, dear.

Side Note: These new Caraway pans are amazing. We got them on Black Friday and they were a steal. Easy to cook in and even easier to clean…although you will have to ask Aaron about the cleaning part, I cook and thankfully he helps clean up.

Coach Wisdom

What I’ve learned over the last few years that I love to share with y’all and teach my clients:

  • Compassion + grace get you far, beating yourself up serves ZERO purpose.

  • Curiosity leads to understanding & growth.

  • Taking action creates confidence.

  • The quote “happiness is an inside job” is legit.

  • You GET TO DECIDE what you think of yourself & that is WAY more important than what others think of you.

  • In any given moment, you are in control of how you think, feel & act.

  • Ultimately, your thoughts lead to your results.

  • There is no emotion you can’t handle, yes, even the negative ones.

  • You don’t need to buffer your way through a feeling - you can allow it.

  • You will not be perfect. You are human. Shit happens (this is where compassion + grace come in handy).

  • Just because you have a thought DOES NOT make it true.

  • Beliefs are a choice!

  • Being comfortable in your skin is a choice & is available to you at ANY point on your journey.

  • It’s not a size or a number on the scale that determines your worth, you are 100% worthy, always have been, always will be.

  • You don’t have to rely on anyone else to feel good about yourself, it’s all up to you + your thoughts - & y’all, that’s f*cking liberating!
    .
    .
    .
A single shift in a thought can change EVERYTHING. When you have a coach, tiny (& sometimes big) shifts happen over & over. They compound over time & become new belief systems.

And when you change your beliefs, you can change everything in your life.

I didn’t get here by trying to navigate all of this on my own, even as a coach, I can get stuck. That’s why I work with my own coach, she calls me out when I’m in my own way.

If you want to know more about doing this work with me as your 1:1 coach, head to the WORK WITH ME tab for more info! From there you can set up a discovery call.
